About this climb ? 

Mont blanc is the highest mountain in western Europe although impressive and imposing mountain top its 100 achievable with the right preparation and acclimatization ... This where our 1 week Alpine climbing holiday comes in to it . Our holiday is structures to allow enough time to appropriately accimatize and learn the skills to achieve the summit . 


We start the week by driving through the Mont Blanc tunnel to the Italian side of Mont Blanc where you will be given some skills training and a briefing before we make the approach to the Vittorio Emanuele hut for our first Alpine peak the only 4000 meter peak completely on the Italian side - Grand Paradiso where will have our first night in a hut . Rise and shine early the next day for an Alpine start to climb the classic route the summit of Grand Paradiso - this makes for a great introduction to Alpine climbing. 


Returning back to Chamonix, we will have a further day of acclimatisation and snow skills with a day trip from the top station of the Aiguille Du Midi across the Valle Blanche to the Helbronner in Italy , returning back by the amazing Gondola lift .

 
We  allowed 3 days for the ascent of Mont Blanc with 2 chance of making the summit via the normal route from the Tete Rousse or the Gouter huts, by this time your be more than prepared and feeling strong ready to make your summit attempt .


Our Mont blanc package includes all resort transport, accommodation, Half board catering , lift passes.

Location 

We run our climbing Mont blanc Course from the french town of Chamionix, Chamonix is an exciting destination for any adventure enthusiast , it is the capital of alpinism and incredibly inspiring town the visit with views towering mountain all around you and a real buzz about the places its hard not to love this town. Chamonix is easy to access via Geneva International airport  and its only 1 hour by transfer by bus .

Getting to Chamonix 

Its best to book flights well in advance but please DO NOT book flights untill you have recived your confirmation from us. 


Easy jet offer flights to and from Geneva airport from most airports , British airways and swiss air run regular flights from London . 


From the Geneva airport booking a mini bus transfer to Chamonix is by far the best and easiest way - it takes about an hour or so and is cost effective as it drops you off at the door . 

What to expect from mountain huts 

They are very basic but comfortable , they can cater for vegetarians the food is usually on a set menu basis with 3 course meal in the evening. Ofter there is no running water and you will have to buy water to drink and shower with . You can usually buy tea, coffee , wine and soft drinks as well as snacks. 


Sleeping arrangements are normally dormitory style bunkbeds but a pillow and blanket - no sleeping bags are needed but we highly recommend that your bring a sleeping bag liner . On this course we ask the hut guardian to supply a packed lunch. 


What will I need 

Once we have received your booking we will send you an extensive packing list that will included a discount code for cotswolds outdoors . You can hire an climbing equipment from us such as crampons, ice axe , helmets  and harness .


Training 

To maximise your chance of getting to the top of Mont Blanc its important that you get as fit as possible . Mountaineering is all about being able to exercise at a moderate pace for many hours ( typically 10 - 12 hours ) and your training should reflect this and we can offer advice on how best to prepare you physically alternatively join us on 1 of our training weekends and your receive a training program
