Blencathra & Sharps edge


This is one of the best walks around the Keswick area with it's magnificent views exposed knife edge ridges, this is defiantly not one to miss out on.  The best way to experience this and the safest way is to join one of our many guided walks, this is not for the faint hearted but will defiantly get the adrenaline running. 


It is a classic lakeland edge which isn't as long as striding edge, but is slightly harder and defiantly just as breath taking.

Route Description :


The route starts from Threlkeld and goes directly to Blencathra summit via hell falls ridge which has wonderful views. Once we had a short stop at summit we then drop down into scales tarn then head to sharps edge to start our accent of the ridge. It is short , steep and rocky ridge with severe drops either side but easily completed with our experienced instructor. Once  conquered we we will be on the summit and can admired our accomplishment. For the decent we will head to Dockdick fell ridge then alongside hall fells ridge which will bring us back to Threlkeld. The decent has all well used paths and amazing views of the surrounding areas.


This is a serve mountain ridge,  the weather will always be taking into consideration and will not be completed in bad weather but if not able to do there will always be an alternate date offered.

    How fit do I need to be ?

    • It depends on the walk that would like to do, We ask that everyone has a basic level of fitness and books a walk that is suitable to there fitness levels . We are more than happy to have a chat with you if your unsure. 

    Do I need my own transport? 

    •  We ask that people arrange there own transport however if you struggling we are more than happy to offers you a lift to and from a central location. Alternatively if there is a large group we can arrange transport to suit that .
