The Silver National Navigation award scheme is the next step after completing the Bronze award. It adds new skills required to navigate to places some distance away from the path / track. The award teaches you accurate map and compass work as well as new techniques suitable for navigating across open country side
The two day silver NNAS award builds on from what you have learnt from your bronze award. This course offers the opportunity to become proficient in the use of maps and compass, thinking about and implementing the use of strategies while walking away from the beat track.
Through out the course your NNAS tutor will work closely with you to develop and increase your understanding of navigation and how to stay safe in the UK mountains . Our course are held in either the Lake District or Yorkshire dales with a key emphasis on quality learning rather than cover massive distances. At the end of day day two there is a short assessment.

Who is its suitable for ?
This course is a great "zero - mountaineer" course if you've not done any mountain navigation before but are wanting to get out and explore confidently .

Enough cloths to keep warm and dry in all weathers

Map and compass
Note book and pen
Whats included ?
The course fee includes full instruction from a qualified and experienced Mountain leader. We can also provide maps and compasses if you need one alternatively anyone booked on to our course receives 10% off at Cotswolds outdoors - Grassmere
