What is the national 3 peaks challenge
So this weekend we finished our 8th national 3 peaks challenge this year !! But what exactly is the national 3 peaks challenge and what make’s it so hard? Well, let us start with what is the national 3 peaks? The answer is exactly what it says on the tin. The challenge is to walk up the Uk’s highest mountain peaks in under 24 hours. That’s Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in under 24 hours because of this it is a hard challenge to complete but 100% doable with some hard work.
Thinking about doing the N3P Challenge?
If you’re really serious about doing the 3 peaks then you really need to put the time in to do your research and what it involves. The people who get around the best are the ones that have trained and put in some real effort to get ready for it. It’s okay to be able to walk up a mountain but remember you have to be able to do it 3 times. Each time it will get harder and harder, time training is time well spent. Our job is not to get you up to the mountain – you do that yourself our job is to keep you safe.
How fast is N3P’s?
Clearly, it has to be fast as time is ticking from the moment we get going. Mountain Adventure’s N3Ps approach is that we should always be moving forward. Whether that’s in the bus to our next destination or walking up the next peak. Teams lose time when they are faffing a few mins each car park loses 10 mins times that by 3 and you’ve lost 30 mins just in the car park over 24 hours. That is hard to recover from and means your going to have to work harder to make up that time. The guides know the times and will set the pace that allows you to hit the times perfectly.
How does Mountain Adventure run its open N3P?
