 3 day  winter mountaineering course 

This is the Ultimate winter skills course and another really popular course for a good reason. Over the course you will tackle mountaineering routes such as the iconic Sharps edge and St Sundays crag. We will teach you the skills to be able to head out and look a these types of routes and be confident that you can do them . The 3 days will cover all the fundamentals of winter mountaineering such as navigation, rope work, Crampon skills and of course avalanche awareness as well as much much more .

Course Outline

Over duration of the 3 day on the Winter Mountaineer course your be taken on some of the best and most iconic winter routes in the Lake District. As well as looking at the key skills to mountaineering in the winter . 


WHAT DO I NEED ?


- Enough clothes to keep warm and dry in all weathers

- Crampons 

-  Climbing axe 

- B rated boots ..... Winter boots and summer boots are very different 

- Plenty of food and drink 

- Goggles 

-  Head torch 

- Hat and gloves

- Harness  & helmet

WHATS INCLUDED ?

 The course fee includes full instruction from a qualified and experienced  Mountaineering instructor certificate holder.  We can also provide maps and compasses if you need one.   Alternatively anyone booked on to one of our courses receives 10% off at Cotswolds Outdoors - Grassmere.


WHO IS ITS SUITABLE FOR ?

 This course is aimed at people who have done some mountaineering in the summer and are looking to take it to the winter. You should have scrambled up to grade 2 in the summer before .
