BULGARIAN SUMMITS WEEKEND
STAY IN THE HEART OF SOFIA AS A SUPERB WEEKEND OF TREKKING IN THE PIRIN MOUNTAINS
This is the newest and latest addition to our affordable adventure travel range, This incredible weekend will take you to the wild Pirin Mountains of Bulgaria and includes one the most spectacular mountain ascents in Europe . Rugged and dramatic, the Pririn mountains of have some of the most breath taking and undiscovered mountain scenery in Europe in true Mountain Adventure style , we ascent Kotelo ‘ the horse’ via the breath taking and airy marble ridge before heading up to Vihren. After two fantastic summits we take a cable car up to the Bezborg hut and follow ridge top paths and rraverse alpine meadows to the peak Mt.Polejan (2851)on leaving the mountains we pay a visit to the fantastically located Ornate Rila Monastery. A UNESCO world heritage site. Finally to round of a great weekend we return to Bulgaria capital , Sofia . With its golden cathedrals , pavement cafes and chilled out vibs this is a great city to end the weekend in .
DAY 1 – MEET AND GREAT
Meet group at Sofia Airport where a single timed transfer will head to the hotel in Bansko about an hour and half drive away. Your have the opportunity to visit this idyllic town and shops before an evening of traditional Bulgarian food and entertainment and a befreiefing about the next day.
DAY 2 – VIHREN CLIMB
Today your make your make your ascent of the Vihren ( 2914 ) and Kotelo ( 2911 ) via the Marble Ridge this stunning day will offer your the chance to try out Via ferrata and stand on 3 summits of the day whilst taking in the amazing views, Once we’ve stood on our 3 tops we will slowly head back along an alternative route back t the the hotel in Bansko where dinner and medals will be waiting.
DAY 3 – LAKE BEZBORG
Today we leave Bankso and drive about any hour south where to Lake Bezborg and explore the UNESCO world heritage site – The Rila Monastery where you can walk around the area take a tour, enjoy the stunning views and relax before we then transfer back to Sofia for a tour around the city and hear about the incredible history of the area and some of the important buildings of the area.
DAY 4 – SOFIA
After some breakfast and coffe we will single times transfer to the airport in Sofia where you will have the chance to reflect on the amazing time you’ve had before heading back home.
The trip price is inclusive of accommodation, transfer flights and a fully supported ground crew on the trek. All our ground crew are local guides who have grown up in the area and have a wealth of knowledge and experience that will give you the full Bulgarian experience

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I need any previous experience?
Ideally your’ll have walked in the UK or over seas before but no prior experience is required. We will be effected by the altitude but we will discuss how to manage that prior trek. Walking in the mountains can be very physically demanding so all we ask is that you have good level fitness.
What equipment do I need?
This is a summer walking trip so there is not need for crampons or Ice axes ! We will send you a detailed packing list once your place is confirmed .
Where do we meet?
Please do not book your flights until your place has been confirmed, We will send you details of the flights that we are on and hopefully you can book around that, Ideally we will all meet at a central airport travel together. However if you decide to choose a different airport we ask that you try arrive around the same time.
